On September 2, FRAPRU begins a March of 550 km from Ottawa to Québec for the Right to Housing

Montreal, Quebec and Gatineau, August 30, 2018 – It is on Sunday, September 2 that the Front d’action populaire en réaménagement urbain (FRAPRU) will kick-off in front of Parliament Hill, a march of 550 kms that will end in Quebec City on September 29.

This extraordinary event aims to highlight the serious denial to the right to housing that is prevalent in Quebec and to demand an ambitious plan by the Quebec and Canadian governments to put and end to this situation.

Each day 35 to 100 people from different regions will march under the FRAPRU banner «From Cities to villages for the right to housing».

The march will cross the Ottawa region during the first week. After marching from Ottawa to Gatineau on September 2, the march will pass through the regions of Masson-Angers, Thurso, Pointe-au-Chêne and Papineauville, before making its way through the Laurentians, Laval, Montréal, Montérégie, Lanaudière, Mauricie and Quebec City.

Schedule Sunday, September 2:

10:15 : Media scrum, on Parliament Hill (corner of Wellington and Metcalfe streets)
10:30 : Gathering and mobilisation of housing activists in front of Parliament
11:00 : Departure and start of march toward Gatineau
